EXTRAORIDINARY 1900 DUTCH SILVER TABLE BOX - CAST BIBLICAL SCENEHALLMARK OF STEVEN AND HENDRIK REITSMA (SNEEK)
A remarkable Netherlands box distinguished by theexceptionally detailed high relief casting,size, weight and quality workmanship.
The cover is worked with an elaborate scene of figures in the garden of Gethsemane;Judas betraying Christ for silver coins.Palm trees and stylized moon above a wall form the background. The roundel is set in a wide border with molded lip. The cover with shaped thumbpiece opens on astout self-stopping hinge to a spacious well.
Fully hallmarked with maker's initials, Minerva head and (for export) key intersecting lion passant.
