Historic Walt Disney Studio Treasures from Saturday's Toys presents...    a vintage issue of The Studio magazine from the Library of the Walt Disney Studio:  March 1958

Includes original studio library check-out card as issued to the following (including three artist signatures):

• William Dover (1901 - 1982); Disney executive story editor Bill Dover (aka William B. Dover)... who was credited with meeting P.L. Travers in London during final negotiations over creation of the "Mary Poppins" story treatment.  By the spring of 1961, Dover would then be tasked with escorting Pamela Travers throughout her visit to Los Angeles and to Burbank's Walt Disney Studio. It was during this 1961 visit that Travers would work with the Disney story team in development of that initial story treatment.  In addition, contrary to urban legend... it was not Walt Disney who hosted Travers on her one and only visit to Disneyland.  As Walt had come down with a cold and had to send his regrets, in his place he assigned the responsibility to Bill Dover, who then escorted Travers to Disneyland on Walt's behalf on Easter Sunday (April 2, 1961).  As Dover did not receive a screen credit for his significant contributions in the development of the "Mary Poppins" project... this may be one of the few opportunities to acquire an historic period document from the Walt Disney Studio that specifically references William (Bill) Dover by name.
• C. Campbell; aka Collin Campbell (1926- 2011); notably worked on Lady and the Tramp, 101 Dalmatians, and Donald Duckin Mathmagic Land... and for WED Enterprises on Disneyland attractions such as the Haunted Mansion,Pirates of the Caribbean, Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room.  In addition, he painted the river scenedepicting the Mississippi River and Jackson Square for Lillian Disney'sharpsichord that was placed inside Club 33.
• Dale Barnhart (1918- 1996);  layout & background artistfor The Jungle Book, Sword in the Stone, 101 Dalmatians, Winnie the Pooh.Married to Phyllis Barnhart (1922 – 2008) of Disney’s Ink & Paint dept.
• Walt Stanchfield (1919 - 2000); SIGNED; hired at the Walt Disney Studio during production for "Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad" and worked on every feature film from 1949 until "The Great Mouse Detective" (1986). Worked closely with Eric Larson to establish a training program for Disney's new generation of animators in the 1970's.
• Fil Mottola (1915 – 2008); SIGNED; worked for twelve years as ananimator at the Walt Disney Studio. Received numerous screen Credits as abackground painter for productions such as "Sleeping Beauty","Peter Pan", "Lady and the Tramp", "Sword and theStone" and many other films and TV specials.
• Tony Rizzo (1919-2000); SIGNED; aka Anthony Rizzo; background artistat the Walt Disney Studio on “Man in Space”, “Sleeping Beauty”, “101Dalmatians.”
