WILLIAM WILLIAMS KEEN(1837-1932) SIGNED CARD, “With best wishes, W. W. Keen, Philada., April 25,1905”, on a card 4 x 2.25, by the American physician and the first United States brain surgeon who co-edited the first American textbook of surgery and worked with six American presidents, including leading a team who performed a secret surgical operation aboard a private yacht in Long Island Sound to remove a cancerous jaw tumor on President Grover Cleveland. He also served as a surgeon for the Union during the American Civil War. And, was president of the Philadelphia School of Anatomy(1875-89) and was known internationally for inventing brain surgery procedures. He was also the first surgeon in Philadelphia to use Lister’s antiseptic surgical practices. The card is in fine condition, with minor age toning. #12534
