by W. L. Marble 1897-1900. Stamped, “PATENT MAY 24, 1898” in a circle around
head bolt (Barely visible due to much honest wear. The lead filled guard to
protect cutting edge, is unmarked until 1903, is retained by a strong spring.
Fancy Gutta Percha 8 star grips with a few hair-line cracks present are
attached by 3 European style with 2 pin, rather than slots screws. Scales have
a hound and rabbit on one side and two panels opposite reading: MARBLE’S SAFETY
POCKET AXE, and MFG’D BY W.L. MARBLE GLADSTONE MICH. By Arni Dunathan, 2004.
