Rare Bavarian Model 1869 Werder Bayonet Modified Variant, measures 23.5" overall with a blade length of 18.5", inside socket diameter of socket is .680" and has a screw on top of the socket to adjust. The blade shows dark age patina with scattered pitting, excellent working press-stud, with brass ribbed handle and hooked quillon that is tight and has no looseness. The ricasso is stamped SOLINGEN W&ST, which stood for Weyersburg & Stamm Makers. The Guard has a serial no. of 58230 with the opposite side having reg. markings "3R" with a crown in between. This was the modified version of the Werder M1869 bayonet and allows the bayonet to be used with the M1871 Pattern nose cap used on the M1869nM Rifles. These modifications were done in 1876-1877.
