RITE EDGE VINTAGE GREEN LARGE-FRAME FISHERMAN'S KNIFE: I don't know anything about this brand, but I expect it is imported from Chine. So I looked at a couple knife-hobby forums for information. I found one positive review of a Rite Edge knife and several condemnations, all having the same complaints: poor fit of handles or blades, cheap frame parts, faked stainless-steel, and "It's made in China". Well, this knife is made in China. Allthe legendary brands are now made in China. The extant American productions are all made in smaller quantities, probably on older, less efficient machinery, somewhat laboriously and are priced hundreds of percentage points higher than Chinese knives of equal style and quality!Someone who won't admit the quality of high-value Chinese knives istrying to make himself believe something that you know is not really true.I am not advocating for Rite Edge here; I'm only trying to sell a knife that caught my eye at a show and impressed me with its quality for its asking-price. So here goes: Thin (1/16") handle slabs are a stunning green-to-black swirl, the medium to dark appearance bracketed by shiny nickel-silver or stainless steel solid bolsters 1/16" thick, height, length and angles are just perfect and are held by brass pins, ground to absolute even height and polished shiny. Blades are stainless steel polished to mirror shine, not satin, or brushed, or washed, or non-reflective, or shot-peened, or camo. Shiny. As in, "Time on the buffer". They fit straight in the frame (which pieces are also 1/16" thick), do not clash inside the frame, thanks to a third frame piece dividing the cavity, do not jiggle when deployed, lift from the cavity with a reasonable and safe resistance, and walk and talk satisfyingly loud, with a half-stop on their way home. Cutting edge is machine-ground, most likely, rather than stone-honed, but that provides enthusiasts of the hobby to strop the blade while watching "Forged in Fire" with the wife and kids. I have carried this knife in public and apologized to non-knife admirers for the fact that its made in China, just so I can get out of the conversation with closed-minded individuals who claim "America first". Half of them have an LG Microwave oven and a Hyundai in the garage. Now I want to sell it. You buy it and you decide if you like the knife without judging its parentage. Mailing only to USA-48.
