ArguablyNew Hampshire\'sgreatest speaker, statesman and lawyer, Daniel Webster(1782 - 1852) was an icon in American history during the years leading up to the Civil Wardue to his passion and extraordinary, unsurpassedspeaking skills.Because of his innate oratory abilities, Webster\'s reputation was widely known during his day. Accordingly, well to do and upper class citizens wanted toread his comments and private& public institutions published his speeches.

Here is an opportunity to own a RARE original pamphlet of one of Webster\'s speeches. Original blue printed wrapper. Entitled \"ADDRESS DELIVERED IN FANEUIL HALL, May 22, 1852, at the request of the City Council of Boston\". City Document No. 31. Boston: J.H. Eastburn, City Printer. 1852. 26 pages. Six months later, Daniel Webster will be dead so this is one of his last public speeches.

The outer wrapper is inscribed, \"Rev. Samuel Barrett, D.D. with the Reflects of the Mayor.\" ReverendSamuel Barrett was an important personhimself during this era, an active clergyman and minister who was an influential individual in the American Unitarian movement.

IntroducingWebster was Boston mayor Benjamin Seaver. On the first page of the pamphlet is pencil handwriting stating, \"Inscribed by Benjamin Seaver, mayor.Subsequently, one finds on pages 8 and 9 two minor interlineations , possibly done by the Mayor Seaver himself.

Thecoverwrapper is still attached, though a bit loose. It was originally combined with string though one section is missing. Some separation of the spine. Pages are brown and brittle, with some loss to the extreme edges. A little bit of soiling. There is a crease on all the pages as it appears that at one time, the pamphlet was folded over. However, overall, in terrific condition given itsover 170 years of age!
